Tip Jar

We Are Committed to Staying Completely Free.

Music Scam Alert was created by people who are artists and who care about other artists. We wanted to provide a free resource to help independent music-makers navigate a career in this incredibly predatory, below-board industry. We don’t believe you should have to pay for that, and we promise we will never ask you to.

Our Promise:

🐰 We know how important this resource is for many artists out there, and promise we will never ask you to pay a subscription fee, nor will we use this space as a means of collecting ad revenue (no annoying ad banners, we promise).

Everyone who works for us is a volunteer; no one gets paid because we don’t use this site as a means of generating revenue. And we intend to keep it that way.

Read More About Our Costs

We encourage everyone to show their support in ways that are free first, such as sharing our site to your favorite platforms.

For those who would rather show financial support, we have added a Tip Jar to our site. You’re not obligated to donate just because this website helped you. We meant for this service to be free. You not having to pay for this is exactly what we envisioned when creating MSA.

What Costs are Involved for MSA?

Any donations will help us cover the cost of our annual WordPress fees, or help us compensate our researchers for their out-of-pocket costs (such as buying VPNs, for security).

The level of security needed to run a site and a service like ours is somewhat significant. Just to host this website has a hefty annual fee attached. But we knew that going into this.

Please only donate if you can afford it easily. We want you to feel safe and succeed in your career. We’re here to help, and we don’t expect anything back. If this has been helpful, please share our site with others who might need it. That’s really important to us, and would mean a lot.

Please don’t donate if money is tight. We always intended to be a free service for artists.

Where Does Tip Money Go?

🐰 All tips will be put into savings and used to pay for next year’s site costs. Any excess will go into compensating the research team for out-of-pocket costs. We don’t anticipate there being any excess beyond those two costs, but we will be transparent about where that money goes, should we ever receive that much in donations. It would likely go towards additional security measures for our website. We will update this section to include any future uses for donations, should some new need arise. We promise to always be totally transparent when it comes how we use your donations.

Remember, sharing is caring too. If you can’t comfortably give, just share our site. That helps a lot. The more you share, the less we need to run ads to spread the word about our work here. So that’s another great (and free) way to show us support.

💛 If we haven’t talked you out of donating yet, below is our tip jar. We thank you for your support, regardless of what form that takes.

Thank You.

We thank you for being here, and just know we will continue to serve independent artists, for as long as we possibly can, and no matter what we will do so at no cost to you. Thank you for being a part of this effort. We appreciate each and every one of you.
